Cooking Pork Jowls

Looking for suggestions. I’ve never cooked with this cut before. Thanks.

You can use it like guanciale! The two dishes I’ve made with it with this strategy are bucatini all’amatriciana (though you could use spaghetti just as easily) and carbonara.

I normally just slice it up and cook it like regular bacon on the stove! It stays fresh for at least a week in my fridge, so I have it with breakfast on Sunday, mix into some rice and beans during the week, and am usually able to have it again for breakfast by Saturday.

Hope you get to try it!

Oh my goodness I love the smoked jowls!! Honestly I usually keep it simple and cook it up like regular bacon too. I slice it up to about 1/4 inch and cook in the cast iron until browned and crispy. It’s also a delicious add in to any pasta dish like carbonara. :yum:

Another vote for using this as bacon. We cut ours slightly thick and put in the air fryer on 390 for about 7-8 minutes and it makes the best bacon you will ever eat!
